Reed Sheppard's Legacy at Kentucky -- I hate to disagree..

Some people have a very low bar for what constitutes a "legend" nowadays.

    Trilly says JQ to UL

Which is exactly why you don't go hire a guy with Mark Pope's track record. Last 5 years have stunk, now the next 2-3 will probably stink, too. Could've hired a host of guys where that wouldn't be the case.

Reed Sheppard's Legacy at Kentucky -- I hate to disagree..

He has no legacy. His final game was an all-time no show while in the process of one of our most embarrassing losses in program history.

    Trilly says JQ to UL

Holy smokes. Some of you still trying to explain away and spin this stuff because you got a nostalgic high from that presser? Next year is going to be a disaster for Kentucky MBB. If we're lucky we may sniff the NCAAT again in 2026.

    Reed declares

He was the worst player on the floor in his final game here. Plenty of blame on his shoulders, too

What are your expectations for next year?

So many people just willing to write off the next 2 years after we just endured a 5 year stretch with once NCAA tournament win. Before you know it we'll be staring at a decade of mediocrity.

What are your expectations for next year?

Seems like people are coming down from the nostalgia wave that swept over everyone on Sat/Sun and realizing why this hire was so risky to begin with. Next year will likely be extremely ugly.

    Ugo to the draft

0% chance he’s drafted, obviously. I see people on Twitter saying Euro league… that’s disrespectful to the Euro league. Ugo would get destroyed over there.

I'm sure he's a nice guy and a hardworker but Ugo flat out stinks. We can and should do better.

    The Tre Mitchell Curse

I think he read the Kampe quotes prior to the game about how UK was a good matchup for them because we didn't have a post presence that would get us easy baskets around the rim. Basically got goaded into it. That's my theory but maybe that's giving him too much credit.

Feels like we're going back to Tubby era recruiting

I've been really taken aback by how many UK fans are clamoring for BYU's players. Outside of Robinson (who would be a nice bench piece on a good UK team), there's not a single guy on that team that is a UK-level player. Khalifa, Dallin, etc will get eaten alive in the SEC over the long haul.

    Khalifa

Any of you actually watch this kid play? I did. A lot. He’s so far below the standard of player we need here. That’s the nicest way I can phrase it. Good lord, these are sad times around here.

So Pope hasn’t won an NCAA tourney game as a head coach

These national media types applaud literally every hire. They loved Tubby and thought the Gillispie hire was a home run, too. Their opinions are literally worth nothing.

So Pope hasn’t won an NCAA tourney game as a head coach

What does this even mean? I'll give him a chance in the sense that I'll watch all the games as I always do and form my opinions based on the results. Just like I would any other coach. Doesn't mean I have to happyclap or bury my head in the sand when I know we just hired someone completely...
