    Yeah, it was pretty clear we weren’t getting a big name this cycle. I much prefer Pope to a mediocre older coach like Pearl. It’s a risk but Pope is one of our own. A good coach. And could potentially be here a really long time.

    My students keep reminding me of one very big reason to be grateful for Calipari.

    In my 30+ years as a fan Calipari gave me some of the highest highs I’ve ever experienced. Even though we had been bounced from the tournament early twice it never felt like it did with Tubby or Billy at the end when it felt like we weren’t playing the same sport as people.

    I think that part is getting lost in this. If he wanted to he could have held to that contract and gotten his $33 million. He could have really screwed us but left us in an amicable fashion with lots of money to play with.
