    Coaches we are not getting

I got the man… Kentucky All American, 7 championship rings as a player and coach, Naismith Hall of Famer. Sure, he’s 79 years old but he’s still involved in the game

Long timers/Old timers- What was the Sugarbowl Basketball Classic

He was an attorney with an office in downtown Lexington for many years. I had a brief teenage flirtation with his daughter one summer

Long timers/Old timers- What was the Sugarbowl Basketball Classic

Bennie Coffman, who was the first JUCO transfer (out of Lindsey Wilson) to play for Coach Rupp, passed away last week at the age of 86. After graduating from UK he played and coached AAU ball then had a long, successful career as the girls’ basketball coach at Boone County.

Shout out to our American soldiers Dec 25 1776 edition

I assume this is documented, but Cowpens seems odd in that sequence. Different commander (Daniel Morgan vs. George Washington), Colonial strength was only about 1000 men including militia, and site was at least a month's march from any of the other battlefields listed. If you know the history...

If you were to move to another country , Where and Why ? What

My wife and I spent a week in Scotland this summer, and by the time we left we were talking about buying a second or retirement home there. Real estate prices outside Edinburgh aren't outrageous, and I actually like haggis. However, the immigration laws are stricter than other places we'd...

Will Levis had himself a day

SIAP. A little trivia, who else noticed that former Kentucky and current Titans QB Will Levis took his first NFL sack at the hands of former Kentucky and former Titans LB Bud Dupree?

Poster Delivers Some Sobering News to Critics

Here is another way to look at it, and I only ran this for 2022 but I'll bet it holds true generally. In 2022 there were 14 SEC teams, only 4 had records over .500 in conference: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee. Since Georgia was 9-0 against SEC teams, there were no wins against them. The...

Mike Leach taken to hospital and has passed away

A question I’m curious about, has any member of Hal Mumme’s staff at Kentucky ever been hired back here as a coach? I know Neal Brown and John Schlarman, but they were players not coaches under Mumme. Maybe some grad assistants?

Mike Leach taken to hospital and has passed away

I agree you aren’t going to have all of those items, but you can - hopefully - have someone nearby who can call 911 and perform effective CPR until EMS arrives. Also, AEDs are available for the home. Expensive, $600-1200 range, but if someone has a heart condition insurance might pay for it. Of...

Mike Leach taken to hospital and has passed away

10-15 minutes without perfusion indicates he was alone / inaccesible when this happened, or whomoever was with him was not able to perform CPR and rescue breathing. The survival statistics even with that aren't great, but they are skewed by it being done often on patients who are in very poor...

Mike Leach taken to hospital and has passed away

Even a defibrillator is only useful for certain rhythms, and the automatic type you usually see in public is more limited than a manual unit like a Zoll you'd find on a crash cart or on the EMS buggy. Now I am ACLS certified, but I do not work in critical care and have to date never run a code...

Worse coach that got two really good jobs

It’s a good ol’ boys club between head coaches and ADs. It’s much easier for a mediocre head coach to keep getting head coaching jobs than for a promising coordinator to get their first break as a head coach.

The Modern Era of Kentucky Football -- 2016 to present

The record in the 3 seasons before Bryant took over was 8-20 / 1-15 SEC so things weren't in great shape then either. The difference I think is that recruiting was more wild west as far as the NCAA in those days (at least compared to when Stoops got here, not the NIL/transfer portal era) and...

Going to the game (NIU @ UK)

Just found out our new grand daughter is coming to visit tonight, so no going to the game. Still interested in info about attending because we plan to go to at least one this season.

The Modern Era of Kentucky Football -- 2016 to present

First a trivial correction. The 12 game regular season schedule was adopted on a trial basis in 2002 and 2003 then back to 11 games in ‘04-‘05 and 12 games fulltime in 2006 Bryant had by far the better win percentage at Kentucky (60-23-5) Comparing schedules: when Bryant came to UK we played...

Going to the game (NIU @ UK)

My wife and I are talking about going tonight. We haven’t been to a game in several years (since before the Stadium renovation). I have questions about getting to the stadium and tickets. - when we lived on the south side of Lexington we would park close to Crestwood church near the Arboretum...

    Mike Edwards Pick 6

Great pick, but on the return did it look like the last defender made no effort to push him out of bounds. Pretty much just waved his hand at Edwards and let him run past to the endzone. Edit: second look, bigger slower guy... maybe couldn't do much with the angle he had
