Opt outs have ruined Bowl season

The opt-out is fall-out of one main thing - the elongated season. It used to be 10 games and bowl game. 11 games total. Now its 12 minimum (UK did 13 this year). If you go to the conference championship there is 13 (or 14). Then a bowl game (14 or 15) or a two game playoff (15 or 16...

    Somerset

On the PI. If a defender prevents or interferes with a receiver from having an "opportunity" to make a play on the ball its interference. That is how NFHS rules phrase it. Rules vary at different levels. Tough, tough situation for the defender on that play. But call on PI was correct on...

Is Stoops ready to try Gilmore?

If you have a good system installed by good coaches with good recruits that fit that system then the approach should be - next man up. For whatever reason that is not the approach.

    Herald Leader

HLH is now printed in Louisville. And it probably goes to print before the CJ so you miss a lot of "late" sports. "Late" could be anything after 9 p.m.

    attendance for the game tomorrow

Wife works at UK and we picked up tickets in upper deck for $25 (plus $7.xx in fees) earlier in the week. She checked before leaving today. 100s of tickets still left in some sections. Today they also offered some pick-3 employee packages for future games. Not sure if they need to try new...

CFP championship game ticket prices plummeting

I travel to that area fairly frequently. One possible issue is simply hotel availability. The Sunnyvale, Mountain View area is often sold out and getting hotels on short notice is hard sometimes, even without a national event taking place. Also remember, the recent California fires...

    Our passing attack

TW has trouble with medium range crossing routes and slants. He is often behind the receiver. He throws where the receiver is, not where the receiver will be when the ball arrives.

Pat Forde (Missouri Alum) cries foul

No way one could call it uncatchable with all that contact AND he caught the ball - a half step OB. If it had sailed long and over their heads and there was no actual catch - ok, uncatchable. But they made the right call in the circumstance. Mizzou still had chance to win the game with a...

now put the Hoak experiment to rest

Colin Powell once said "Confidence is a force multiplier". The mechanics, reads, accuracy on crossing patterns, etc. should come with practice each day. But the coaches need to pump up their QBs. BOTH were not showing the confidence, bravado and can-do attitude and pumping up the rest of...

now put the Hoak experiment to rest

Bouvier. They use the French pronunciation since he has been in college. Before that it was pronounced "boo-veer". Two clutch pass receptions during want should become known as "The Drive" from the former LexCath star who holds the record for most career receptions at pass-happy LexCath.

    Louisville is Hot Garbage...

As a season ticket holder for UL games (and for full disclosure was not at the game today due to medical condition) I would expect it to look more like a UK home game than a UL home game. Obviously the program is disarray. Those that did not support the return of BP are making it known again...

Ha. Tim Sullivan throwing Strong's name out there to replace Petrino

Too much off-field history there. Venables from Clemson has been floated as another candidate.

Fact UK is Winning is Mircaulous Given QB Play

TW is 25th in completion percentage in FBS. TW is 105th in YPA in FBS. Pass plays are either ultra safe short or on the sideline long. Not much else. If they continue to run plays send 4 receivers into patterns where they go 10+ yards before they turn around any QB will struggle.

What is the problem with the passing offense as you see it?

Without the 54 yard TD pass Saturday the total passing yards were 52 on 12 passes. This is a little over 4 yards per pass and less than Snell averaged per carry. This is a symptom of heavy use of very safe quick-outs or swing passes. More slants, more drags, etc. As noted it seems there...

    Conrad?

Playbook appears to have no underneath drags, slants or curls underneath the zone. Basically anything that goes to a TE or a slot receiver that gets you 5 - 8 yards is not part of the plan. Its either a pass to the sidelines 10 yards downfield or a quick out or swing pass behind the LOS.

    OT: Lexington HS Football

Deserving of the name 'Title Town'. And Chuck Smith seems to have Boyle Country back on track for another extended run in his second stint there. That is difficult to say with 3 kids who graduated from LexCath. Boyle looks to win 3A again this year. Lexington Catholic is exciting to...

Florida fans crying about the officials.

The pass interference call against UK late in the game should be enough to blunt any talk of favoritism toward UK. The FG was definitely outside the uprights in flight and was definitely hooking back in. So it looks good by where it hit the net but it was well outside on the way there...
