Programs that use to be relevant

Syracuse is a weird case. Syracuse in the 80's was famous for having great teams that flamed out early in the tournament. Syracuse the past 10 years has become famous for having mediocre teams that barely scrape into the tournament, then go on a miracle run. There has always been a certain...

I know Whitney hasn't had a great year

I think ballhandling is the most underrated skill in basketball. You don't want guys playing hero ball, but it just makes a world of difference if a player can at least consistently make solid 2-3 dribble moves. If he can't, he's either going to be a niche player (rebounder/defender, or spot-up...

    Bill Murray

You can find literally dozens of verified stories of Murray doing nice things. Keanu Reeves is another. Murray is an extrovert, Reeves is an introvert, so the there's a difference in behavior, but everything you read indicates that he's a genuinely excellent person. If someone with that...

I know Whitney hasn't had a great year

Whitney is Exhibit A for why scouting HS players is exceptionally difficult. Most scouting takes place at major AAU events and camps like the NBA top 100 and USA Basketball. Which makes sense, because when you have a convergence of the players considered the most talented in their age group...

    Mac McClung at Georgetown

Because they only think about the best of all players from outside the top 100, and only after they've proven themselves to be the best of that (enormous) group. Here are the non 5 star players Duke has signed this decade. I'd love to hear which ones UK should have been interested in: Josh...

Whitney was ranked at 11th best of top 20

Because he played great in the EYBL. People act like there's a lot of mystery in what scouts are looking at. There's not. They're watching the major events where top talent converges- the EYBL, the top Adidas events, the NBA camp, anything involving USA Basketball, and the big HS tournaments...

    Mac McClung at Georgetown

Great. Let's say 50" is legit. The question then is how that translates into an actual game. Remember Deuce Bello? How about Shaquille Johnson? No? Look up their mix tapes. How did the the NBA career of James "Flight" White (my vote for most impressive leaper I've ever seen) go? How many...

This is what some of y’all wanted

You make some valid points, and I won't put you on the same page as rainbow and lollipops guy, but you're still asking for a system that isn't necessarily any more realistic than trying to win a title with a team mainly composed of Freshmen. The best players leave college basketball...

    Mac McClung at Georgetown

No one has a 50 inch vertical. Can McClung hit his nose on the rim? No, he can't. So he doesn't have a 50 inch vertical. Excellent leaper, for sure, but he's not Superman. As for the rating, it was based on competition level in HS and the fact that when he played high level AAU ball (Adidas...

    Mac McClung at Georgetown

Maybe? I know that one of the guys that UK took instead of him is currently averaging 14 ppg. In the NBA. McClung is a solid player, but he's also an undersized 2 guard on what's probably a bubble team, with a very, very green light. You can't just transfer stats without context.

    Mac McClung at Georgetown

Or to mention that Georgetown's leading scorer is Omer Yurtseven, a 7 footer averaging 18/10 and 2 blocks. I mean, if you're going to pine for Georgetown players, why not him? I have some ideas about that, but Merry Christmas.

And yet Kentucky won more games than any other D1 school from 2010-2019. Incredible coincidence.

And the Sporting News Coach of the Decade is...

Or the year before. Or the year before that. 3 top 5 players last year. #1, 5, 7, and 14 in 17-18. 2, 4, 11, 14 in 16-17. And those 17 and 18 teams had a Jr and Sr Gracie Allen. 0 Final Fours. Almost the exact same record, regular season and tournament, as UK has the last 4 years.

O Holy Night ~ Isaac Humphries

Can't think of anything on that, but Wayman Tisdale, 6'9", was a legitimately talented bass player.

Do we have one NBA player?

Really? So Jarret Culver and De'Andre Hunter ending up going 4 and 6 in the draft had nothing to do with their college teams meeting in the title game. And it's a total coincidence that when I pull up the 2018 Villanova roster on College Basketball Reference, the top 5 scorers all have the...

This is what some of y’all wanted

My last post on this. Here's what they're asking for: To only sign 5 star players who either make a huge impact immediately (Murray, Fox, Monk, then Bam, Knox and Keldon Johnson sort of), or are willing to stay multiple years (Ulis, Isaiah Briscoe, PJ Washington, Wenyen Gabriel, Nick Richards...

    Prominent UK Hater on UK

Rampant idiocy does that to me, occasionally. Cal has one national title. That's a fact. Roy Williams has 1 national title in the time that Cal has been at UK. That is also a fact. You messing with timelines doesn't change that fact. It just makes your "anti-Cal in all possible ways" motives...

    Prominent UK Hater on UK

You claim to be able to see the future. I would have thought you had the power to realize what a decade is, or to keep track of the years that John Calipari has actually been UK's coach. I guess I was wrong. If "close enough" is the standard, I say Cal has 3 or 4 National Titles. He had the...

    Prominent UK Hater on UK

    Right, because you're completely irrational.

    Prominent UK Hater on UK

No, it's not, since it's not part of the last decade and it wasn't a season when John Calipari was the UK head coach. You don't get to talk about Cal only having one title at UK, then count a title that Roy won before Cal even got to UK against Cal. Unless you have a massive agenda, which...
