Like a phoenix from the ashes, a fresh Caleb Wilson thread.

Here are the most recent tidbits:

David Sisk as of this morning: “I haven't heard anything any differently. I will if I get anything, and so will Travis. But I still am saying that Kentucky was the favorite when the season began. Although there is buzz in certain camps in another direction I haven't been told that.“

Travis Graf as of Friday: “I’ve texted a handful of people and I’ve yet to hear a smoking gun to UNC on my end thus far. Some acted like UNC would be a huge surprise. I’m gonna continue talking to people.

People have asked about NIL stuff being signed, and like I said last week when it was brought up, I had heard rumors for a month that some things like that had been in the works. The problem is I’m not sure how to confirm that, and even if I did, there’s still a lot of grey area on how binding anything is in terms of that stuff. If it did happen, was something signed or was it an agreement? Not sure. But there have been heavy rumors floating around for awhile.

I’m not flipping my opinion to UNC unless I hear something concrete.”

Travis Graf as of Thursday: “I just got off the phone with a Caleb Wilson source. They’re setting up their announcement day & time. They wouldn’t tip their hand on which direction it was going, but said the commitment is coming soon (for sure this month).

Latest Intel I have is from 2-3 weeks ago and it leans UK. I’m gathering intel with different sources currently outside of the recruitment. NIL has always been a big part of this recruitment, could a big bag have been thrown to sway things? Sure. But I haven’t heard of that having happened on my end.”

Jack Pilgrim as of last week: Hinted at a possible Hoophall announcement. Hoophall runs this Thursday to next Monday (16th-20th).

Travis Branham started the UNC stuff last Thursday with this quote on 247: “So, with just a little over three weeks left in the month and despite all of the noise, my unpopular opinion is that North Carolina is the favorite in this recruitment and where I currently predict Wilson to land.”

Jamie Shaw soon after Branham: “While I have not placed an RPM just yet, based on the latest Intel I have received I am close to putting one in for the Tar Heels to ultimately land Caleb Wilson.”

Live by the 3, die by the 3, win by the 3

I have posted before how our team reminds me of the Alabama team of a season or two ago. Our 3 point shooting determines the wins or losses. Clemson 25% from 3. Georgia 24% from 3, Ohio State 18% from 3.

Zags 28% which was close. Duke 40% Florida 48%, Miss State 50%, UL 52%

Obviously there are other factors such as hitting free throws, rebounding, defense. However, we are not a great defensive team and rebounding has been a problem in several games. What stands out in the wins and losses is the 3.

FB Recruiting INSIDER NOTES

** Mi'Quise Grace is a huge addition for Kentucky. They evaluated him against Power Five competition, namely Wisconsin and Pitt, and he played really well in those games. One big factor in taking all the non-power conference guys they have taken is how they've fared against the most talented teams they have faced. Georgia made a serious run at the end but Kentucky held them off.

** Grace is in the ballpark of 260 pounds and I am hearing he will be a defensive end at Kentucky, likely to play the position Octavious Oxendine played. Has run a 4.56/40 yard dash. Those around Grace have said Marrow made a huge impact.

** Arkansas landed TE Rohan Jones from Montana State. He was going to visit Kentucky after that but they opted to move in other directions with their numbers and are okay with Mikkel Skinner being the hybrid this year if they use one.

** Tru Edwards is eager to commit to Kentucky but they don't know his status in terms of eligibility. Will be interesting to see how it will play out but he is pressing ahead and apparently intent on making a decision either tonight or tomorrow. Folks close to Edwards have said he is enamored with Kentucky. He may try to inform the staff. They have already been in contact. If he goes somewhere else it was UK not being willing to wait on the eligibility question but the talk today has been that he likes Kentucky the most. So take that for what it's worth.

** Also hearing Kentucky stands a great chance to land NCSU nickel Tamarcus Cooley. As of right now they are the school to beat. Will they have to take his brother from GT? TBD, heard they might as of the most recent check. He isn't on the level of Tamarcus, for what it's worth.

** As for Shiyazh Pete, have also heard Kentucky is in good shape there. The timetable I've heard is the next three to five days but I'll update that.
