Not pushing a panic button, but it would be nice to not have a season where the starter was named a few days before the opening game. That always makes me a little bit nervous.

IMHO
Not naming a starter keeps everyone working harder.
Human nature to stay hungry when your in the hunt for the starting position.
Both by the eventual starter and the back up.

Agree with Bluetick. If you have had a clear starter, then you have a clear starter..........otherwise keep everyone fightin for the position.

For example, Towles played decent last yr as a Soph.......but it's not like he set the world on fire. He shown enough to have a nice lead right now, but not enough to be named the starter from the get go.

Agree, it should be a competition for all 22 positions. Punters and kickers too !
