That's a long time ago. But not as long ago as the last time they got to the Final Four...That must have been before the era of written language because there is no record of it.
This is the best way to sum up Tennessee basketball: In 2010, Kentucky played in the Elite Eight, one of seven times the Cats would play in that round over the next 10 tournaments. Sadly, the Cats had a terrible outside shooting day and did not advance. It was a bitter disappointment. Tennessee played in the Elite Eight that same weekend, also losing. It was their greatest achievement in over a century of Tennessee Volunteers basketball -- and 14 years later it is an accomplishment never to be matched.
