MALIK MONK - Bentonville (Bentonville, AR); 2016 SG; 6'-3.5"; 171; 5-Star; 247Sports rank 6; Arkansas has big lead over UK at this point - 12/19/2014 lost to Wheeler (Marietta, GA) with Jaylen Brown 40 - 61 - FG 5/15; 3's 1/6; FT 2/2; Reb 4; PF 0; TP 13; A 0; TO 4; Bk 1; Stl 1; Min 26:08 - Monk was ill this game and tired quickly. Distributor, even though he put up 15 shots. Had a nice move into the paint, stop and fade. Nice looking on his 3's.
12/20/2014 lost to Whitney Young (Chicago, IL) 52 - 64 - FG 2/7; 3's 1/4; FT 3/4; Reb 3; PF 5; TP 8; A 2; TO 4; Bk 0; Stl 0; Min 14:19 - Really elevates on his J and has a nice release. 2 fouls in 1st quarter and 4th at 6:47 of the 4th, eventually fouling out with 2:30 left. Took a couple of long 3's that he didn't hit. Bentonville is not a good team and have 2 small guards who dribble, dribble, and dribble. Would like to see Malik on a decent team. Malik smiles a lot, but I have no idea if this is a positive or negative. One of the coaches said he is not set on Arkansas, but is still wide open. Cal visiting often and coach obviously likes Cal.
12/22/2014 beat Riverside Academy (Reserve, LAL) 58 - 55 - FG 5/6; 3's 2/3; FT 11/13; Reb 9; PF 3; TP 23; A 3; TO 5; Bk 2; Stl 0; Min 30:59 - Again today, Bentonville showed that they are not a good team. Monk on the wing again with the two, small, dribble-crazy guards. Nice jumper. Quick. Doesn't seem to have a PG game, maybe more of a SG. Today's game was his best at the Classic, so maybe he is getting over his illness that was obvious in his first game. I think he is a work in progress. I would advise him to get out of Bentonville for his senior year to see how he competes at one of the basketball factories.
