Javeon Campbell 2025 Edge, Western Hills HS, Frankfort KY

Any Frankfort friends have any inside info ?
I live in Georgetown. Publicly available information tells us he likes UK, OH St, and GA right now, although he will apparently take at least 7-8 OVs. Apparently he is still relatively early in the recruitment process. Although he has said he wants to commit during the summer, he has blown up fast as a Power 5 prospect over the last 6 months and that makes his decision more complicated.

Giving hope to UK fans is Campbell's stated priority of staying relatively close to home. It is being said that he likes Coach White and Coach Stewart. Right now, Campbell and Brandon Caesar are probably the two most interesting pure DL prospects among those who will OV UK (not counting Jack LB prospects like Cedric Works).

Caesar's top three appear to be OH St, TN and UK. At 6-4 250, he looks to be a DE in our system right now. Marrow has been on Caesar for a few years now. He has high praise for Marrow that seems to go beyond football. Will still be hard to get as his family are OH St. fans.

Yes, for the reasons you described, UK is a tough sell for Brandon Caesar, compared to OH St. But as long as we can get an OV from him, we are in the ball game.

A caveat. We can hope that Caesar's OH St offer becomes uncommittable because of their recruitments of other DL prospects. That is a realistic possibility.

Is there a limit on OVs these days?

Saw elsewhere that Campbell's made more than one UV to Notre Dame. Hoping home and VM carries the day, this player is the most talented KY-bred player I've seen in a long, long time.

Given Chumlee's disdain for defense I can't imagine why any defensive prospect would want to play for him.

Campbell in for spring practice today. Others also in for the practice are Dejerrian Miller WR 6-3 190 and a 3 star from Illinois. Michigan, Oregon, TN, MO and Ole Miss a few schools that are after him. Jim Harris is a 6-5 295 OT from MI. Texas A&M, Penn St and MI St some of the schools recruiting him. Also in today for practice is N-Kye Wynn, a 6-5 265 OT from MI. One more here also is Cam Clark, a 6-7 280 3 star. GT, Minnesota and Wisconsin have offered.

Oh St is in full panic mode after Michigan won the NC, or maybe Day is. Their collective spent 12M one weekend on 2 kids from Bama. Day is feeling the heat, begged for more NIL funds and got it. They are prepared to spend 30m on the 25 class. They are also tampering with everyone's roster. So anyone you recruiting that but bucknuts are also recruiting is going to cost you big because they are overpaying bigtime.

Not a fan of GT, but any OL that they offer you have to consider a good prospect. Brent Key is an alumnus of Tech, played OL for them and coached at some bigtime programs. Their kids play hard for him. So if he has offered, chances are pretty good he can play.

He has physical tools, but he is lazy. He will wash out in a year of college if he doesn't get his head on straight.
He is physically bigger and stronger than everyone now. Won't be the case in college.

Anybody know where we realistically stand with him ? Being recruited by the big boys.
Campbell wants to commit in July or August. He has really blown up. Just cross your fingers and hope we get him, because he is a key prospect for us this year. Several ranked programs want him. Even though he is an instate prospect, this has become a difficult recruitment.

I will just point out again that our six current commitments are all offensive players, and most of them have been recruited by Coach Marrow. Marrow is also recruiting Campbell. At some point, our defensive class will come together. No prospect is really a "must get", but Campbell lives a half hour from campus and could really help Coach White's defense.
