Game of Thrones

Same here. It obivous now that the TV series will have to create its own ending since Martin no where near finishing the last 2 books in the series.

Recent interviews suggest that GRRM is determined to get the 6th book out before Season 6 of the show debuts next year. Even if we give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he actually does it, it's still only delaying the inevitable because theres no way he can get the 7th book out quick enough to keep the show from surpassing the books.

So i'm hoping he takes his time and gets it right. It's going to happen, you can't stop it from happening, so don't rush your masterpiece just to try to stop it.

Late to the party on this show. About halfway done with season one, I'm liking it so far.
I was like you last year. I burned through three episodes a night for a week and then a mini marathon over the weekend to catch up for season debut. It was worth it.

A season doesn't always cover one book. This past book is most of last season as well as this season. There really isn't as much going on in this book as in the previous ones. Looking forward to the book, have to read them first before watching the show, there is too much going on to stay straight.

Fans have to deal with the fact it is going to be 2 different stories, the books versus the tv show. That is the reality, so anyone is wasting time complaining "that wasn't in the books!".

Too much awesome stuff already left out from the first 3 books, and too much invented crap thrown into the 4 seasons of show. Only getting worst this season based on leaks.

The guys who created the show know how GRRM plans to end the series. I'm sure they only know the big picture and don't know the little details, but at least the end should be about the same in both.

Pretty good. Slow moving, which is the case in all of the season premieres. Episode 1 is always used to set things up.

way too much manass

He has said in interviews that he he has talked with the producers of the show about the direction he plans on going with the conclusion of various storylines.

Love GoT but think it can be a victim of its own enormity at times... Too many storylines with not a lot of time to tell it in.. You get 5 minutes of Tyrion, 5 minutes of Danerys, 5 minutes of Littlefinger, 5 minutes of Stannis, 5 minutes of Cerci and Jaime, 2 minutes of Brienne of Tarth, etc... Didn't even show Arya, The Hound, or Bran who will probably get 5 minutes each in the next episode... You see where I'm going here.

Hound is dead (allegedly), no need to spend time on him. I'd be perfectly fine if this season did not show one second of Bran, by far my least favorite storyline and character(s) in the show or books.

I think Bran's storyline will be key because if you have read the books you know what he can do. Not to going post a SPOILER but I feel several things going to revealed by Bran....IMO

I have read the books. and if they do pretty much anything with Bran this season advancing where he was at the end of last season, it will be material that is beyond the books.

True. I hope perhaps Martin has written a lot about Bran in the next book so maybe there will not be much Bran Storyline this season but next season since hopefully Martin be about done with next book.. But if his storyline is told much this season TV writers will have to be creating what they think going to happen.

After watching the first four episodes this season, they've done a pretty good job handling the acting dynamics between Jon Snow and Stannis/Davos, Arya and Jaqen, Brienne and Podrick, and Tyrion and Varys.

All of the Danaerys scenes still drag like hell, and Sansa still can't put on a convincing acting performance.

Is there something in Danaerys contract that she does not do nudity any more? After season 2 I can't recall anymore nudity from her and I miss that. Sure would be better than all the male nudity they have anymore.

She's said she won't do nudity anymore because she wants to be known for her acting, not that she takes her clothes off.

Bran will not be in this season at all per the showrunners.

She also had this quote recently:

"There are other women who remove items of clothing on Game Of Thrones, so they've got my nipple count down now."

Think you should sit this one out bud

Bran is not in this season. His story is caught up with the books, so he won't be back til next season. Weird, but kinda cool.

Its been awhile since I have read the books, but a few things appear different.

1. I am pretty sure Ramsey Bolton has a fake Sansa Stark in the books and the real one hasnt been seen? I am wrong?

2. I dont remember Jaime Lannister going to Dorn for his daughter.

3. Dont remember the revolt on the unsullied in the books.

Episode 4 is really really good.

One things about the show, the writers seem to know the ending, and you can see parts of it heading to a conclusion. I feel like fat guy just takes so long to go anywhere and spends 4 pages talking about grease drippings from some leg of lamb as though its a pornographic symphony. Show>books.

1. He has a fake Arya, who hasn't been seen. Sansa makes her way to the Vale with Littlefinger, just like in the books, and keeps her true identity a secret.

2. Correct. In the books there is another member of the Kingsguard protecting her. But Jamie's story is pretty boring in the last two books and the guy who plays him is really popular, so IMO thats why they're giving him a more exciting story.

3. Incorrect. I won't post spoilers but click here for the answer.

Also, am I off, I dont remember Ygritte being Milisandre in the books. Is that just implied?
Whuuu?

I have not heard this before. Meaning, Melisandre was controlling Ygritte or that Melisandre took the form of a wildling and seduced Jon?

She did very bluntly ask if he was a virgin in the episode....but I thought that had more to do with the king's blood thing or something?

Are these spoilers from the next few episodes that were leaked? If so, f***you.

It looks like they are cutting some of the fat out of the books. I think we're going to miss a big chunk of Tyrion's travels and maybe even a few pretty big characters from the books.

I like it though. It's more streamlined.

The fattest of which being Strong Belwas. I have no idea why they didn't bring him into the show.

I guess to make Daario look like more of a badass? IMO they could've had both.

All I know is none of the plot lines are particularly compelling right now. They need to shake things up a bit. I'm sure they will, but I'm sick of waiting on Daenerys to do something other than run around freeing slaves. Take your dragons across the Narrow Sea and get the hell on with it. Jamie? Meh. Cersei? Meh. Arya? Meh. Brienne? Meh. You get the idea. Don't get me wrong - I love the show and will not miss an episode; I just feel like the whole story is dragging right now.

Yeah, business will pick up. Remember, there is a dragon out there somewhere just goofing off -waiting to come back and be "Mr. Awesome Invincible Dragon" for a bit.

Tyrion has been dispatched to work the other angles to power that exist outside of (boring) Kings Landing.

Danaerys has pissed off everyone in the East and doesn't even have a firm hold on Meereen.

The Wildlings are still just sort of sitting there waiting to overthrow the North. Stannis just martyred their all-holy leader.

The power void left by the death of Tywin will leave a struggle for power.

etc...etc...etc...Dance With Dragons has plenty of action so this season will not starve for excitement. I do hope that they don't dwell too much on the politics in Meereen or Kings Landing. Those plots are where the last book got very tedious.

Only about 40% through the fifth book.

Trying to resist downloading the leaked episodes but...

The only plot line I even watch anymore is Tyrion's. As CMD said, everything else is just dragging. Tyrion is by far the best character on the show.
