Wife and I would like to go there for a vacation...We would like for it to be an adult or couples only spot and would prefer for it to be an all inclusive deal, but not a deal breaker if it is what we are looking for as we are mainly looking for a place with no children and a good night life...Would appreciate all the suggestions and help we can get...THANKS very much in advance [cheers]:cool2:

Not sure AI is your best bet there...options are limited. Certainly nothing there like the AI's you see in the Caribbean/Mexico. Bolongo Bay on St. Thomas is a decent little all Inclusive Spot w/ a fun beach bar.

We got married on St. Thomas, split our trip up with 4 days at Marriot Frenchman's reef (amazing views, very cool hotel), and the Ritz Carlton (same, just more expensive & luxurious obviously)

Which island are you leaning towards? St. Thomas has the most to do in terms of food, nightlife, shopping, etc. St. John has the best beaches. St. Croix is the most shady, but also the least developed if complete serenity/exploring is your thing. They do have a casino though. We didn't visit that island.

Best bet imo is to Stay on St. Thomas, take the ferry to St. John for a few days. You can also ferry to Virgin Gorda (The Baths), Jost Van Dyke (Soggy Dollar), Tortula, and numerous other BVIs if you want.

The Red Hook area (near the Ritz) is your best bet for nightlife (Duffy's, several restaurants), although the island(s) are pretty laid-back & sleepy in that regard. Charlotte Amalie (the main town)is pretty happening when cruise ships are in, but a ghost town after dark otherwise. Frenchtown is the other area with restaurants and a few bars.

The Bolongo Bay mentioned above actually had our favorite nightlife bar (Iggies) on the island, but you can go there even if you aren't staying there.

I'm with BBDK on this ... AI might not be the way to go.

On St Thomas, we really like the Sapphire Beach area on the east end ... a little bit away from the crowds, and pretty quiet and scenic (but what isn't in the VI?). Fewer cruise ship excursions go out that far, so you won't get inundated with people a couple days during the week.

St John is great, though ... much more laid back, and most of the island is national park. Beaches are world class ... you can go to a couple a day. As above, low number of cruise shippers come over, although they all seem to hit Trunk Bay, so visit that one on a day they're not there. We stayed at the Westin St John on Great Cruz Bay and loved it.

I'd suggest venturing away from your AI resort (or not staying at one at all) and taking in the local vibe, culture and cuisine, etc. Sorry but you don't get that at some mega resort.
Ok...that sounds interesting...so st.john's has the best beaches...so you suggest to venture away for the night life?...thanks everyone so far even you usetoluvhim2:sunglasses::smiley:

When I went to the Virgin Islands the first time, after I left, they just called them "The Islands".

You don't have to travel that far for adult and couples only fun.

There are swinger sex clubs in the states. Would save you a ton of money. Some even have "gangbang" nights if you insist on the whole "all inclusive" thing.

My advice. Menages in Nashville.

Got back from our 3rd trip to the VIrgin Islands in March. First 2 we stayed on St Thomas. Very nice, rented a villa and jeep both times. This 3rd visit we rented a villa up in the mountains of St. John. Would definitely do it again. St Thomas is built for the cruise ships. If they aren't in, it's dead, as one other noted. We also noticed on our way to and from St John, that St Thomas looked like a small town in anywheresville,KY. KFC, taco bell, just regular spots, along with a few "island spots." Duffy's is cool, and is made to look cool in the brochures. However it sits in the middle of essentially a strip mall/buisness area parking lot. plenty of tourists of course. Go to Magens Bay Beach in St Thomas, once rated one of the top 10 in the world by Nat.Geo I think. Take the drive back up the road from the beach, and just after the big bend, there's a dairy and fence. Drive thru there. Park and taste some of the best liquor filled ice cream this side of heaven. THen go back to St. John.

St John this trip was awesome. We had visited before but never stayed. Take a sailing / snorkeling trip on the Kekoa, maybe you'll get the all female crew. Whew. Good night life downtown and all drinks can becarried outside to the next bar. Food is good, nothing amazing stupendous, and you will pay for it on either island. We stayed at Villa Kalorama and had a blast with family and new friends. Made our own meals at times, and went out on town for others.

If you still want all inclusive, go with Caneel Bay on St John. Hands down, best food drinks, and service anywhere on the island. Cousins stayed there when villa got full. They loved it and we did too when we visited. Its own private beach, dinner on the beach privately if you want....all a great deal. Hope this helps.
