I find it interesting that he changed the lyric to "slave" like one of us
At the time of the cover, he was battling Warner Brothers for the ownership master tapes, changing his name to O(+>, and had the word "slave" written on his face.

I find it incomprehensible that there has ever been a better version of this "traditional" recorded.
 


Always liked this cover, if for nothing other than it shows how bleak the song is when lyrics are at the forefront instead the beats/catchiness. Also I'm an Outkast stan lol.

While this is actually cheating, since “Hey Ya!” is technically in a 4/4 time, Andre 3000’s masterful use of a standard time signature actually gives “Hey Ya!” it’s catchy, unforgettable beat. The song uses what’s known as a cadential phrase, which combines a series of measures to create what seems like a continuous measure on a distinct signature.
