Brown cuts UCLA

are UK fans back to wanting brown now? just weeks ago it appeared the consensus was he sucked and didnt want him.

Speak for yourself. I've been an advocate for Brown for a long time now. Every discussion that came up in the whole "Brown vs Ingram" field, I named Brown. Just seems like more of the prototypical Calipari wing. The type he's had a lot of success with. *Staring hard at MKG*
That said, with the rumors swirling that UK got the latest in-home visit after Brown said he was shutting it down, well, that's encouraging.

The average fan doesn't really follow recruiting closely and likes who they think UK is likely to get....for the last several months it was looking good with Newman so everybody wanted Newman. Now that we made Brown's top 5 and Newman is off the board everybody slides back into being all about Brown. I sense the sarcasm in your post and I agree that there is some seriously funny "herd mentality" that goes on these boards lol

The Wacko consensus maybe.
This young man elevates UK to number 1 preseason IMO. He is a game changer. Can u imagine he and poythress as uks forwards? There is no more athletic tandem in the country. The dunks would be vicious---assuming poy is able to return to his Bahamas level. The possibility is exciting if it comes to fruition. All objectivity used to assess his possibilities----UK makes the most sense on most if not all the factors. Really hope we get him. He is a transcendent talent

Don't y'all forget my admonition in a different thread last week about Jaylen Brown having escorted Te'a Cooper to his school's prom. Te'a Cooper is a nationally recognized PG in women's basketball from Georgia who has signed with Tennessee. If you looked at the picture of them together in the link I posted, you can see that - what shall I say - they seem very happy with each other. It's less than 3 hours from Lexington to Knoxville. It's a LONG WAY from Lawrence, KS to Knoxville.

I'm just sayin' ...

Go 'Cats ! ! !

Michigan fan here..not here to troll, however he does have a lot of family connections to the state. His mom is originally from their and his uncle who lives here, is a huge UM fan, is apparently heavily involved in his recruitment.

Since you couldn't keep Louisville from winning a title, your basketball program is officially good for nothing.

Brown or Diallo would probably make us preseason top 5.

I think with Ingram, Duke is now preseason number one.

Adidas is not that big of a factor in his school choice IMO. Just cuz he goes to a nike school does not mean he is obligated to go with nike when he goes to the league, obviously. To me Calipari should have an advantage with Adidas guys based on the fact that 2 of Cal's most successful players in the NBA (Wall and Rose) have their own shoe with Adidas, which I think would be a deciding factor if Brown comes to UK. I mean Cal having 2 all-stars in the league with their own Adidas shoes would seem to be an advantage right?

If UK gets brown we should be preseason 1 or 2 IMO. Duke will be good but I agree meter is way overrated imo

You really think this? They return like 15 ppg and bring in a much worse class than they got last year.

We only return like 7 ppg and half the posters here think we should be preseason #1. Duke will be good, as will UNC, UVA, Kansas, and Iowa State & Maryland.

chase jeter being a 5 star tells you all you need to know about this class.

I haven't seen much of Jeter, but what I did see, he was thinner than I was expecting, and Ingram is stick thin. They do have Plumlee and I think Obi is a wide body, but their muscle is unlikely to be scoring threats. I think their inside game will be similar to their 2010 team with Plumlee being like Zoubek and Jefferson being like Lance Thomas. Difference is that team had a LOT of experienced players, while this squad won't. That, and Jeter, Ingram, Thornton, and Kennard are not Okafor, Winslow and Tyus Jones.

I agree, but they have kids that can score the ball. Our current bigs are not much better offensively. Outside of Skal, Poythress has struggled on offense (dribbling and shooting), Lee has no offense and Willis has played zero in the paint. So the same could be said of us, except we don't have shooters to open the paint, yet.

If we don't add anyone else, then yes we will struggle with scoring. If we add two from the group of Murray, Diallo, Brown and Mulder, I think we will be fine.

I was under the impression that Rabb was pushing Brown to come to Cal....seems like I remember when Rabb signed, he said that he wasn't going alone..... Anyone care to clarify that, or share details?

Ulis, poythress, lee, Willis and Hawkins are FAR more experienced than what duke returns.

I don't agree with the FAR notion at all. They return two very good scorers (one starter) on the wing, both played quite a lot (both played over 20 mins in the championship game) and two seniors in Jefferson and Plumlee who played in EVERY game with about 30 mins combined where as Hawk, Lee and Willis only averaged about 20 mins combined, and two of those didnt play in half the games the whole season.

We have no starter returning, just one guy who played over 10 minutes every game and one guy who missed almost the whole season.

I think you are off on this one crazyqx.

Hope I'm wrong but I still see him going to Michigan.

Really comes down to whether he wants to play with two or three other studs (who all compliment Brown's abilities, by the way) or play for a team that will struggle to make the tournament.

I know KU fans think they can get him, but what about a sophomore Svai and junior Selden? Those two are currently penciled in as the starting wing duo. Meanwhile, there's no one at UK as far as wing scoring is concerned.

Actually, not really. 3770 career mins for us, 3718 for them.

I had to look it up because I though he was right. But if you look at quality minutes. Jefferson and Plumlee played a lot. Hawkins and WIllis most certainly didn't, especially in crucial times. Ullis came off the bench and did well, as did Lee. But Alex didn't play the bulk of the season.

Thus quality minutes from this past year weigh heavily toward Duke.

Also when it comes time to make a crucial basket - Allen and Jones win hands down.

When it comes time to make a big play: The four dukies > Ulis and Alex

I hope that Lee can turn into one we can trust at crucial times, not sure if Hawkins or Willis will this season.

Boo-F'ing-hoo. What a bunch of whiny little bitches.

"These young punks! They just don't have the work ethic they used to have back in my day!"

I will be shocked if it's not an Adidas school he attends. Certainly not holding out any hope of getting Brown.

Forget about Brown....he's going to Michigan. Ignore everythibg else...he's a wolverine

I understand that your statement depicts the common buzz, but I'm still looking for the logical reason to pick Michigan outside of the Adidas connection.

Any takers on explaining this one?

Damn dude, you are getting pretty pessimistic aren't you? I thought Ulis made quite a few big plays for us this year. Jones hit some 3s, but I don't remember Plumlee or Jefferson making any "big plays". And Allen didn't light it up as much as some seem to think. He had a handful of double digit games, and most of them were against scrub teams. He had two pretty good games in the FF, but let's not make him out to be the next Redick or anything.
