Time for Barnhart and Stoops to earn that money: with our resources, we should be able to make a splash hire within 48 hours should Coen leave. He wants the opportunity and he will get that here whoever the OC is.
BV didn't say Coen was "100%" why he came to UK, he said Coen was the reason he came to UK. If you're not going to believe what a guy says there's no reason to read the write-up.If Coen were coaching at WVU...I doubt Vandergriff would be going to WVU.
1. Coen for sure is part of why a highly thought of QB wants to come to UK
2. But a SEC starting QB job (and not just piddly Vandy job) is also a good part of the why Brock, or any QB, is at UK. Brock wants to get on the field to get some tape out there for NFL aspiriations.
3. Then there is NIL $$$.....he won't get that kind of jingle at a lesser school but a SEC school like UK can pony up some cash.
So while I get his comments...and we can debate the percentages of the 3 reasons I state above. BUt it is certainly not 100% Coen for why he is at UK.
Yeah. I believe BV came, in large part to work with Coen. He has every right to feel disappointed. Coen is screwing Stoops with his constant flirtations. I was happy Coen came back, but I wish now he had not. I don’t think our offense looked consistently better this year than it did last and I think Coen’s indecisiveness (I want to believe him when he said he wanted to teach young people, missed the college game, and did not want to raise his child in a big city, so I won’t say he lied to us) is going to set us back, rather than be a non-factor.Coen has to look Vandagriff in the eye every time he come in the football offices, not us. Coen is the one who has to look Stone Saunders and more importantly his dad in the eye this weekend, not us.
this getting out there and then having to answer for it to young men face to face when asked was a choice.
Totally agree....if he goes to Bears, draft Caleb Williams and he looks like Bryce Young-ish....then he's goign to be out inside of 1-3 years. He's burned some college bridges and there are only 30 NFL OC jobs and he's back to QB coach. If coen is smart he will stay for one or two more years. Prove his value as an offensive coordinator. He hasn’t shown much to this point. If he takes a job and slightly fails, his career in the pros or division one would be damaged.
On the NFL level anyone off the McVey Shanahan tree is highly valued and wanted.I am just not sure I understand how Coen is so valued. What justifies it both in the NFL and CFB?

Coen at UK specifically is valued for what he did with Levis. Turned a guy who was on Penn St bench for 3 yrs into a 1st rounder (anyone deny he would have been if Coen stayed for '22?). It is easy to see this is the exact path Vandagriff wants. Sat the pine 3 yrs, now gets to start 2 yrs in a pro system under a pro coach. He can build his NFL resume for when his CFB career is over after 2025.
the man himself said he came here for coen. Which was pretty clear to begin with. All the points you made are irrelevant if Coen isn’t here.If Coen were coaching at WVU...I doubt Vandergriff would be going to WVU.

I agree he needs to stay some place long enough to demonstrate that he can build and manage something with year over year improvement. Hoping back and forth, not just between teams, but between leagues does not serve him well in the long term.If coen is smart he will stay for one or two more years.
